Cordelia had her breathing tube removed (for the second time – an earlier attempt over a week ago wasn’t successful) on Tuesday. She is now on non-invasive NAVA ventilation, and so far has been handling it fairly well. It can be scary to hear more alarms and see more oxygen dips, but it’s also important to progress her journey towards breathing fully on her own. She has also gained a bit more weight, currently sitting at 690 grams.
There were lots of visits from grandparents while they were here and yesterday she got to meet Uncle Max and Aunty Katrina. This tiny human has lots of bonus Aunties and Uncles.
We’ve been going back to the hospital after dinner most nights. It’s a nice way to wind down our day in the relative calm of the nocturnal shift in the NICU and we’ve started to read Cordelia “bedtime” stories. (Thanks Grandma T, Amy & Kenneth, and James & Leta for the books!)
Apologies to those who are checking the blog daily for updates and finding nothing. Blogs are famously difficult to keep up with in the best of times (see my previous attempt on this very website) and I’ve been understandably preoccupied these days. Feel free to text or email either of us if you want an update in the meantime!
It’s heartwarming to hear and see so many folks following our journey and rooting for little Cordie/Delia/Cora (still workshopping several nicknames).
