November 2nd Update – Due Date Day!

We had a lot of fun dressing Cordelia up in the exquisitely crafted felt BB-8 Halloween costume that her nurse Heather made for her. The ensemble also perfectly complimented the BB-8-colored blanket that GeekGirlCon Auntie SG1 knitted for her! We’ve set a high bar with Cordie’s first Halloween thanks to their excellent efforts. Mom and Dad completed the look with some “Star Wars-bounding” outfits as Rey and Poe. The hospital also provided a gumball machine costume in case we hadn’t come with our own, and of course we dressed her up in that one too.

Today, November 2nd, marks Cordelia’s original due date! Nurse Courtney made a cute and apt sign to commemorate the occasion.

Unfortunately, we have run into another bump in the road on our NICU journey. Danny tested positive for COVID. Alyssa and Cordelia both tested negative, but it means we need to quarantine at home and can’t visit her in person until at least November 8th. Thankfully Danny’s symptoms are quite mild – thanks, booster! We’re still getting lots of updates over the phone from the nurses and we’re looking at this as an opportunity to get more prepared at home ahead of Cordelia’s discharge. It’s frustrating, but we’re thankful that this is a bump for us and not a bump for her.
