As of today, we’ve officially had Cordelia home for as many days as she was in the NICU! She is now over 11lbs 10oz and 23 inches. She babbles and laughs and is trying to roll over. She loves people and will stare at whoever is talking and smile at them when they look her in the eyes. Every week she learns to make a new sound with her mouth. She is in a nanny share with another 5 month old who lives in our neighborhood and she has had several playdates with other 2023 babies. She sleeps quite well at night, usually waking us only once or twice. She is slowly learning to fall asleep in her crib for naps without needing to be inordinately held and rocked first.
These last four months have been their own sort of challenge, very different from the NICU, and basically what the parents of any newborn go through. But we are very lucky that Cordelia has been a relatively easy baby since coming home. There have been many days when we missed the 24/7 expert care guaranteed by all the nurses at Swedish, but it is beyond worth it to get to spend so much of our days caring for and playing with our little girl.
As you’ve noticed, we’re no longer using this blog as our main way to update friends and family on Cordelia’s progress. Feel free to give Danny or Alyssa a follow on Instagram or Facebook for more frequent updates!
And now, a gallery spanning the past 130 days of life at home with Cordie Rae. 💖
